The project was for a data risk management company. The client was looking to generate new leads. They already had a great pipeline and referrals from a major SaaS company. Based on my success with previous B2B projects, I decided it was best to break their audience into customer segments that we could build hyper-targeted funnels around. These funnels included creative and informational advertising tailored to each customer segment. Working with both their executive and sales team, we came up with four consumer segments to target. I went back and mapped out an SEM strategy that would funnel each customer segment from a cold lead to a happy customer, who would eventually refer new leads to the company. Using this hyper-targeted approach along with constant growth hacking, this company's cost per lead has decreased by at least 30% each month. In addition, because this strategy involves educating the lead, their sales team is closing leads much more efficiently. Their close rate was 7%, it is now 12% and climbing.

As the Head of Digital Marketing I lead the company's digital marketing efforts for over 4 years. The hardest issue to tackle was assigning Customer lifetime values to users, since their value on the platform was not given only by the subscriptions they paid (they have a freemium business model). Using Google Analytics as a BI tool, we sent there as much business information as possible through the use of Google Tag manager. This allowed us to adjust and automate our bidding process in Google Ads, focusing on user quality and not simply on the number of fresh leads.
During my time at the business I tackled many issues:
- redesigning the entire online User Experience
- creating internal SEO and Adwords tools that would allow us to automate the process through the use of rules
- creating and optimizing landing pages used for SEM and emailing campaigns.
PPC related achievements include:
- lowering the year over year CPL by 37% in 3 months while simultaneously increasing leads quality (estimated by using geography and business type, 207% increase for our most valuable consumer segment), as well as growing the overall number of leads, at it's peak a 118% YoY increase.

The client is a B2B SaaS platform allowing lawn care and landscaping companies to streamline their business management processes. Their software includes tools like customer management, electronic invoicing, automatic payments, marketing automation, and yard estimation.

Challenge:
When we began working with the client they had recently pivoted from a business model that offered homeowners on-demand lawn & landscaping services, to serving the business owners themselves. Despite having recently changed their focus, they had a strong foundation with a launched product and 2,000 registered users. In our first few months of working together, their goals were to launch a new website, launch and promote a new subscription model, and prepare to capitalize on and onboard an influx of customers during the busiest time of year ("lawn care season").

Solution:
To achieve their business goals, we formulated a strategy, to focus on 3 main areas:
- Reach new customers through relevant & engaging content around small business building topics.
- Convert new customers through Facebook and Google Paid Ads.
- Seamlessly onboard customers and upsell them to the new subscription model through a simple email marketing campaign.

Results & ROI
The above strategy has so far achieved strong results for the client.
- Our paid marketing efforts brought a 300% MoM increase in sign-ups and 500% increase in MoM conversion rate. We are now signing up more customers monthly than the entire prior year while keeping ad spend costs low per conversion.
- Facebook Paid Advertising campaigns have been the best converting channel.
- With an average $2,000 monthly budget, we were able to reach 100,000 people, achieve 25,000 engagements, and receive 6,000 clicks while maintaining a CPC under $1.00.
- Conversion rates have increased from 2% to 12% in the most recent months due to the start of lawn care season, continued optimization, testing, and the launch of new campaigns.
- Google Paid Advertising has also been a great source of sign-ups and engagement.
- Also with an average $2,000 monthly budget, Google Paid Ads reached 15,000 people per month, achieve 4,000 clicks, $2.50 CPC, and a 12% conversion rate.
- For Google Ads, we had originally only targeted brand keywords and competitor keywords, both of which saw very strong conversions. When lawn care season started and we saw higher conversions, we expanded to target keywords around lawn & landscape software terms, which are also performing well and have been optimized for specificity to keep costs low.
- One channel that did not see strong results was Linkedin Paid Ads, which had a high cost per conversion rate. Linkedin Paid Ads were turned off to focus ad spend on stronger channels.
- Despite the influx of new customers, our email marketing campaigns have helped to seamlessly onboard customers, maintaining the client's value of "above and beyond" customer service. Our email campaigns have maintained a 27% open rate and 4% click rate.
- Additionally, we have been able to steadily upsell customers on the new subscription model since it launched at the beginning of this year, with a 10% increase MoM.

Future Plans:
Our next steps with the client are to expand content marketing efforts. Their audience is a very engaged one, and their our opportunities to distribute more regular content and increase followings & engagement on social channels. So far we've organically increased social media followers 5-10% MoM and look to gain even higher MoM traction.
